Toronto Book Awards shortlist announced

Today Mayor David Miller announced the 5 books (and their authors) on the shortlist for the 2009 Toronto Book Awards. They are:

. Austin Clarke for his novel, More, published by Thomas Allen Publishers
. Anthony De Sa, for his story collection, Barnacle Love, published by Doubleday Canada
. Maggie Helwig, for her novel, Girls Fall Down, published by Coach House Books
. Mark Osbaldeston, for his history book, Unbuilt Toronto, published by Dundurn Press, and
. Charles Wilkins, for his non-fiction book, In the Land of Long Fingernails, published by Viking Canada.

Winner will be announced October 15.

Update: The Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Toronto Star all mention the shortlist today, September 16. National Post to excerpt each book, one a day the week of October 6.

Uncovering Da Capo covers
